COFFEE EXPORTS PLUNGE 38%.Nicaragua Nicaragua (nĭkärä`gwä), officially Republic of Nicaragua, republic (2005 est. pop. 5,465,000), 49,579 sq mi (128,410 sq km), Central America. coffee exports from the 2001/02 cycle dropped 38% to 1.16 million 46-kg bags, the country's export authority (Cetrex) said, reports Reuters Reuters British cooperative news agency. Founded in 1851 by Paul Julius Reuter, it was initially concerned with commercial news but began to serve a growing newspaper clientele after the London Morning Advertiser subscribed in 1858. (Oct. 7, 2002). Exports in September, the last month of the harvest, fell 26% to 61,324 46-kg bags.
