 and CODEPINK LONG ISLAND marched under rainy skies with approximately 45,000 protesters carrying the messages: END THE OCCUPATION OF IRAQ and DON'T BOMB IRAN Iran (ērän`, ĭrăn`), officially Islamic Republic of Iran, republic (2005 est. pop. 68,018,000), 636,290 sq mi (1,648,000 sq km), SW Asia. The country's name was changed from Persia to Iran in 1935. . CODEPINK women painted their hands red in solidarity with Desiree Fairooz, who earlier in the week painted her hands red and approached US Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice during a Congressional hearing to say that Ms. Rice had the blood of the Iraq people on her hands.
