CODA and Marcam Ink Cooperative Marketing Agreement For "Best of Class" Process Manufacturing Solutions; First Commercial Application of Open Applications Group Interoperability Standards.

NEWTON, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 20, 1996--Marcam Corporation (NASDAQ:MCAM) and CODA Inc. today announced a worldwide cooperative marketing and sales partnership that offers process manufacturers "Best of Class" software solutions combining Marcam's advanced Protean enterprise resource planning (ERP) applications and CODA's award-winning client/server financial software.

Under the terms of the non-exclusive agreement, CODA and Marcam will engage in cooperative product integration using Open Applications Group (OAG) standards, as well as marketing and sales activities that offer customers a comprehensive ERP solution in the consumer packaged goods, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. The companies will also cooperate in joint marketing and sales activities.

CODA is participating in Marcam's 1996 International User Conference this week in Orlando, Fla. The annual conference draws more than 2,500 Marcam users from all over the world for three days of presentations, exhibits and discussions.

Marcam and CODA have collaborated on several recent sales. Zamek, a well-known German food company with 1995 revenues of DM 220 million ($150 million), selected a full ERP solution composed of Protean manufacturing applications and CODA-Financials.

Both companies were also selected by Sun Chemical Corporation, in a $14 million order for Marcam's Protean manufacturing software and CODA's financial software applications. Sun Chemical is deploying the software as part of a global initiative to establish information technology systems with the initial and on-going agility to empower business and technical users to anticipate, rather than react to, business changes. Protean manufacturing applications and CODA-Financials are now being implemented in 25 Sun locations in 13 European countries as well as the United States.

This effort represents the first commercial application of Open Applications Group Integration Specification (OAGIS, Release one). CODA and Marcam are founding members of the OAG, a non-profit organization dedicated to developing connectivity and integration among enterprise software applications. The OAG efforts are aimed at allowing users to select the best applications for their needs, integrate them easily, and implement them efficiently.

CODA and Marcam were two of the companies that participated in the OAG's interoperability standards "proof of concept" event last fall. In a series of "impact demonstrations," Marcam and CODA exchanged transactions using the OAG open applications integration standards.
