COCA-COLA USA ANNOUNCES SPECIAL AWARD FOR FIRST GEORGIANS
ACROSS FINISH LINE AT PEACHTREE ROAD RACE
ATLANTA, July 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Two lucky Georgians will find something special at the Peachtree Road Race Finish Line: a trip to Spain to carry the Olympic torch as part of the International Olympic Torchbearers Program, sponsored by The Coca-Cola Company.
Coca-Cola today announced plans to send the first male and female finishers from Georgia in the July Fourth Annual Peachtree Road Race to Alicante, Spain, to carry the Olympic Flame. The Georgians will join more than 200 Coca-Cola-sponsored torchbearers from 50 countries in running the torch for one-third of a mile on the 3,499-mile route through Spain.
"An opportunity to carry the Olympic torch in Spain is a great motivator for our Georgia runners as they race to the finish line at the Peachtree Road Race," said Julia Emmons, director of the Peachtree Road Race. "As one of our corporate sponsors, Coca-Cola is providing a unique activity to the annual Peachtree Road Race."
The runners will be joined by another Georgian. A third runner from Atlanta will be named through a consumer promotion supported by the Atlanta Coca-Cola Bottling Company, WVEE radio, WXIA-TV and Kroger stores. WVEE will announce the winner on July 6.
