COCA-COLA NESTLE REFRESHMENTS COMPANY ENTERS THE EUROPEAN MARKET

 TAMPA, Fla., May 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Coca-Cola Nestle Refreshments Company today announced that it has entered the European market with the introduction of ready-to-drink Nestea(R) Iced Tea in Spain, Germany, Belgium and Italy.
 "We are very excited to bring our ready-to-drink Nestea Iced Tea to these major European countries. This is an important move for our company, as we continue our expansion of Nestea as a global product," said Harry E. Teasley Jr., president and CEO of Coca-Cola Nestle Refreshments Company.
 "There is a tremendous opportunity for Nestea in Europe. We will be a pioneer in developing the iced tea business and category there, as the category exists to a small extent in some countries, and is non-existent in others," explained Herve Cathelin, vice president of Marketing, Coca- Cola Nestle Refreshments Company. "We do believe, however, that the iced tea market in Europe will develop as the European consumer discovers the clear, clean, genuine tea taste of ready-to-drink Nestea Iced Tea as consumers have in the U.S.," Cathelin added.
 In Spain, ready-to-drink Nestea Iced Tea with lemon flavor is available in 33 cl cans and 50 cl and 25 cl glass bottles.
 In Germany, Nestea(R) is available in 33 cl cans, and in Belgium, in 33 cl cans, as well as 25 cl glass bottles.
 In Italy, Nestea was introduced in a soft launch last June -- primarily in vending outlets. Today, Nestea is among the country's top selling products in vending machines. Based on that success, Nestea with lemon flavor in 25 cl and 33 cl cans, as well as one liter bottles, is now being launched in major grocery chains, along with a new peach flavored Nestea Iced Tea product.
 Nestea is produced and distributed by the Coca-Cola Bottler system in locations throughout Spain, Germany, Belgium and Italy. The introduction of Nestea will be supported in each country by aggressive advertising, sampling and merchandising programs.
 Coca-Cola Nestle Refreshments Company was formed in 1991 as a joint venture betwee ?The Coca-Cola Company and Nestle S.A. to develop and market ready-to-drink coffee, tea and chocolate beverages worldwide. In addition to these European markets, the joint venture also has launched products in the U.S., Canada, Taiwan and Korea.
