COCA-COLA ENTERPRISES INC. COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF COCA-COLA AND CADBURY SCHWEPPES BOTTLING OPERATIONS IN GREAT BRITAIN.


ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 10, 1997--Coca-Cola Enterprises today announced that the Company has completed the previously announced acquisition of Coca-Cola & Schweppes Beverages Limited (British Bottler). The Company purchased Cadbury Schweppes' 51 percent interest and The Coca-Cola Company's 49 percent interest in the British Bottler for a total transaction value (purchase price plus acquired debt net of other long-term obligations) of approximately 1.2 billion pounds sterling, or approximately $2.0 billion based on current exchange rates. The Company received formal approval of the acquisition from the European Commission on January 22, 1997. The British Bottler produces products of The Coca-Cola Company and Cadbury Schweppes for distribution in England, Scotland, and Wales Wales, Welsh Cymru, western peninsula and political division (principality) of Great Britain (1991 pop. 2,798,200), 8,016 sq mi (20,761 sq km), west of England; politically united with England since 1536. The capital is Cardiff. .
