Proceeds will support the coalition's efforts to promote public awareness of the dangers of drunk driving.

``It's so important for our residents, especially our young people, to be aware of the dangers of drunk driving,'' said Lisa Scates, the Palmdale public safety officer who also serves as co-chair of the coalition.

``This is the time of year for graduation parties, proms and summer get- togethers, and we want to encourage people to be responsible drivers and to watch out for the other guy on the road.''

As a sponsor of the fund-raiser, the city of Palmdale has distributed fliers that patrons should to bring to either Texas Cattle Co. restaurant, which will donate 20 percent of the cost of a meal, excluding alcoholic beverages, to the coalition.
