The Coalition for Educational Justice also blasted the district's effort to end social promotion and said students should be allowed to move on to the next grade level despite poor performance.

``I don't support socialist promotion,'' said school board member David Tokofsky.

Coalition members called into question the entire development of standardized tests, with one member saying they grew out of the eugenics eugenics (yjĕn`ĭks), study of human genetics and of methods to improve the inherited characteristics, physical and mental, of the human race.  movement of the late 19th century that sought to identify superior and inferior human beings.
