 Dejesus Cornejo on Friday and sheriff's investigators arrested him at his Canyon Country home Wednesday morning, said Los Angeles County sheriff's investigator Mike Wilson.

Following his arrest, Cornejo appeared at Newhall Municipal Court for his arraignment A criminal proceeding at which the defendant is officially called before a court of competent jurisdiction, informed of the offense charged in the complaint, information, indictment, or other charging document, and asked to enter a plea of guilty, not guilty, or as otherwise permitted . Cornejo sat quietly among four other defendants and waited until his case was called. It was later determined that he did not qualify for the services of the public defender public defender, governmental official who represents indigent persons accused of crime. U.S. Supreme Court decisions expanding the right to counsel to pretrial proceedings and holding that a person cannot be sentenced to even one day in jail unless a lawyer was  and his arraignment was rescheduled for today so he could obtain an attorney, a court official said.

Cornejo's bail remained at $2,500 and he was expected to be released on bond Wednesday. Outside the courtroom, Cornejo's wife said she believed the charges were fabricated by someone trying to hurt her husband.

``The only thing I can say is that somebody wants to hurt my husband really bad,'' she said, declining to comment any further.

The unidentified teen told her parents that the coach fondled her Nov. 9 while she was at his home.
