CO-HOSTS WALLY KENNEDY AND LIZABETH STARR CELEBRATE THE 15TH ANNIVERSARY OF 'AM/PHILADELPHIA' WITH ALL THE HOSTS FROM THE PAST YEARS

PHILADELPHIA, May 21 /PRNewswire/ -- "AM/Philadelphia," seen weekdays at 10 a.m. on WPVI-TV, Channel 6 in Philadelphia, will celebrate its 15th anniversary with a special show Monday, May 24, at 10 a.m. on Channel 6, featuring all of the hosts from the past years.
"AM/Philadelphia," with co-hosts Wally Kennedy and Lizabeth Starr, is the Delaware Valley's only live, daily, news-oriented talk show.
"AM/Philadelphia" premiered on Channel 6 in May 1978, with hosts Dave Roberts and Claire Carter. Since 1978, there have been six co- hosts of "AM/Philadelphia," and all six will be together for the first time, live, Monday, at 10 a.m. on Channel 6.
Roberts was with "AM/Philadelphia" from the start in 1978 until December of 1983, when he left the show to become Delaware Valley's best weatherman, where he can be seen weeknights on "Action News" at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. on Channel 6.
Carter was co-host with Dave for three years, and left "AM/Philadelphia" in May of 1981. She is currently a free-lance radio talk-show host.
In June of 1981, Janet Davies became "AM/Philadelphia's" new co-host with Roberts. Davies stayed with the show for three years, and left Philadelphia to join WLS-TV, the ABC station in Chicago, where she is currently an entertainment reporter.
Harry Martin, who had been with "Action News," joined "AM/Philadelphia" as the new co-host in February of 1984. He was with the show for seven months and then re-joined "Action News" in August of 1984, where he was weatherman/reporter for five years. He left WPVI-TV to become 5:30 p.m. news anchor of WTNH-TV in New Haven, Conn. Martin currently is weekend anchor of "Eyewitness News" at WABC-TV in New York City.
"AM/Philadelphia's" current hosts, Kennedy and Starr, who have been with the show the longest, started in August of 1984.
"AM/Philadelphia," like all successful television shows, has changed with the times. In the beginning, in 1978, the show was an hour long with a live audience, celebrities, an appealing blend of entertainment, interviews, cooking, and other on-going feature segments. During these years, these are just some of the many stars who appeared on the show: Anthony Quinn, Merv Griffin, Phil Donahue, Oprah Winfrey, David Brenner, Arsenio Hall, Burt Reynolds, Ann Jillian, Sally Jessy Raphael, Ali MacGraw, Dick Cavett, Robert Conrad, Ted Knight, Henry Winkler, John Travolta, Patty Duke, Rita Moreno, Brian Dennehy, William Shatner, Bob Hope, Brooke Shields, Alex Trebek, Ted Koppel, Pat Sajak, Vanna White and Richard Simmons.
Today, "AM/Philadelphia" is as topical as the day's news, featuring the people and stories making the headlines. Viewers turn to "AM/Philadelphia" for newsmakers, political leaders, exclusive interviews from behind prison walls, town meetings, and all the controversial issues people are talking about.
