 CO-EMPLOYMENT WITH YOUR STAFF GIVES
SMALL- TO MID-SIZE BUSINESSES FORTUNE 500 BENEFITS
IRVINE, Calif., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Today's employer is in crisis. Runaway health care costs and workers' compensation are fast becoming a drain on company profit growth. Employee costs for health insurance have increased 20 percent to 30 percent while revenue in most cases continues to shrink during this economic downturn. It's getting tougher for the little guy to stay in business.
How does today's small- to mid-sized business meet these real- world challenges? A growing number of number of businesses in California are using the concept of co-employment to survive and even prosper.
Co-employment is an arrangement where the business owner splits employee-related responsibilities with an off-site firm that specializes in human resources. Your Staff is one such firm, providing Fortune 500 benefits to smaller companies by purchasing insurance from major insurance carriers for thousands of employees, thus creating volume discounts and benefits.
This year California employers paid an average of $3,880 per employee for health insurance. That's a breakdown of $320 per employee per month. Marc Stein, executive vice president of Your Staff says, "With our volume group purchasing, we are able to give business owners customized benefits packages for their employees starting at $78 a month. For some businesses this is a cost increase of only 1 percent. This type of money-saving arrangement should give businesses the ability to continue providing health care well into the year 2000."
Clients of Your Staff each contribute a specific amount of money each month that they want to pay towards their employee's benefits. Employees then choose from an extensive menu of employee benefits to build a customized plan that fits their individual needs. "Not all employees have the same needs," says Stein. "We feel an employer who offers a diverse group of employee benefit plans can count on a greater degree of employee satisfaction." Those plans include a choice of six health insurance options, two dental plans, a vision plan, discount legal plan and optional life insurance plan.
Listed as No. 98 in the Inc. 500 Fastest Growing Companies in 1990, Your Staff has offices in Orange County, Los Angeles County, the Inland Empire and San Diego County. They are currently serving 600 clients and 5,000 employees all over California.
"In the final analysis," says Stein, "Your Staff believes that human resource is the best resource." Whether a business has two employees or 200 or more, Your Staff has been dedicated since 1979 in "Building A Better Workplace Together(TM)."
