CNPC AND HALLIBURTON CO-HOST CHINA/U.S. PETROLEUM SEMINAR

 DALLAS, April 2 /PRNewswire/ -- China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) and Halliburton Company are co-hosting a China/U.S. petroleum cooperation seminar today at the Westin Oaks Hotel in Houston. The seminar provides a venue for leaders from the U.S. and China energy industries to meet and discuss new opportunities for exploration and production activities in China. China recently announced that it is opening promising onshore areas, including the vast Tarim Basin in remote northwest China, to international oil companies for the first time. Opening remarks will be made by Zhang Yongyi, vice president of CNPC, and Dale Jones, president of Halliburton Company, followed by a keynote speech from Dr. Wang Tao, president of CNPC, about Sino-American relations and oil cooperations. Jones also will make a presentation on Halliburton/CNPC cooperation efforts, including a discussion on a new joint venture company, Halliburton-CNPC Company.
 During the remainder of the seminar presentations about different aspects of oil and gas activities in China will be made by other members of the Chinese delegation, as well as representatives from Halliburton and several international oil companies, including Phillips, Occidental, Exxon, and Amoco.
