CNN Veteran Steve Gallien Joins WSI -Weather Services International- Corporation as Vice President, Programming - Media Group.

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 2004

CNN veteran Steve Gallien has joined WSI Corporation, the leading provider of weather data services, as Vice President, Programming for the company's media division. Prior to accepting this position at Weather Services International, he had worked for CNN in Atlanta since 1981. He was Director of CNN World Weather since 1996. The announcement was made by WSI President Mark Gildersleeve.

At WSI, Gallien, 52, is responsible for the division that creates content for some of the biggest names in media, including Fox News Channel, Time Warner Cable, Bloomberg Television and Global TV. Services range from providing updated daily forecast maps to fully anchored weather segments and 24/7 local weather information channels.

As the Director of CNN World Weather, Gallien orchestrated a ground-up restructuring of the CNN weather department as a full 24x7 programming service. He also created CNN International's first weather production facility.

Before serving as Director, Gallien held a number of positions with CNN. He was Supervising Producer in CNN's News Production division from 1990 to 1996, overseeing live news shows and supervising news anchors, writers and producers. He was Executive Producer from 1986 to 1990, after working as a Producer in that division from 1983 to 1986. Gallien was an original recruit at CNN Headline News, joining the network startup as a Producer, where he worked from 1981 to 1983.

Gallien has been honored with several prestigious awards for his work at CNN, including a DuPont-Columbia Award, an International Film & TV Festival of New York Award and a Cable ACE Award for CNN Coverage of China, and two Cable ACE Awards for his work as the Producer of CNN's coverage of the Challenger Explosion and CNN "Inside Politics."

Gallien graduated from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, with a bachelor's degree in Broadcast Journalism.
