Search Begins for the Hottest Products at the 2007 International Consumer Electronics Show; Awards Given in 10 Categories, Including Best of Show and People's Voice

To qualify, all products need to exhibit at the 2007 International CES in Las Vegas. Companies have the choice of submitting their product(s) for one of the following award categories: Car tech; Cell phones, smart phones, and PDAs; Computers and hardware; Digital cameras and camcorders; Gaming; Home audio; Home video; MP3 and portable video; TVs; and Emerging technologies.

Products will be judged on the following criteria:

* The promise to delight customers with its usefulness, design, and/or capacity to entertain

* A cutting edge approach, enabling owners to gain a certain cachet cachet /ca·chet/ (ka-sha´) a disk-shaped wafer or capsule enclosing a dose of medicine.

* It must break new ground in ease of use; working easily and readily with other products

The deadline for submissions is December 1, 2006. CNET editors will select three finalists in each of the ten categories. Additionally, the editorial team will choose one product for the Best of Show award, which recognizes the top product among the ten winners of the Best of CES 2007 Awards. Consumers at home that are actively following CNET's in-depth coverage of the show can participate by voting for their favorite product to win the "People's Voice" award.

Finalists will be announced on Monday, January 8, 2007, at 5 p.m. live on the CNET Stage in the South Hall lobby, second floor. Winners will be announced on Wednesday, January 10, 2007, at 2 p.m. also live on the CNET stage.
