CNC China Entered into Cooperation Agreement with China Netcom Group to Provide Telecommunication Products and Services for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

HONG KONG -- China Netcom Group Corporation (Hong Kong) Limited ("the Company") (HKSE: 0906; NYSE: CN), a leading fixed-line telecommunications operator in China and the Asia Pacific region, today announced that CNC China, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Company has entered into a cooperation agreement with China Network Communications Group Corporation ("China Netcom Group"), the Company's ultimate controlling shareholder, to provide telecommunication products and services to the Beijing Organization Committee for the 29th Olympic Games (BOCOG). In return, CNC China has been given the right to use the 2008 Olympics composite logo and sponsorship logo in the marketing of products and services.

The aggregate value of telecommunication products and services to be provided by CNC China under the agreement will not exceed RMB480 million.

China Netcom Group entered into a sponsorship agreement with the BOCOG, designating China Netcom Group as the exclusive fixed-line telecommunication service partner for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. As a result of the cooperation agreement between CNC China and China Netcom Group, the Company and its subsidiaries (together the "Group") will be able to associate themselves with China Netcom Group's sponsorship of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games.

The Olympic Games, as one of the most important international events, attract attention from all over the world. The Company believes that, with China Netcom Group becoming the exclusive fixed-line telecommunication service partner for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games and the Group's association with the efforts of China Netcom Group, the Group will consolidate its market leading position in its service regions in the PRC, in particular, the Beijing Municipality. The Company will also be able to enhance its brand recognition in other regions of China and in foreign countries, a truly unique marketing opportunity.
