Most important, the agreement further strengthens our ability to provide CN's customers with the reliable, efficient service they need to thrive in today's highly competitive global marketplace."

"We are excited about this opportunity to support CN's performance goals for reliability and availability, as we extend the relationship we began with our first locomotive order in 1989," said David Calhoun, President and Chief Executive Officer of GE Transportation Systems. "The agreement is based on helping CN meet its aggressive customer service objectives through additional support and training. It also adds to GE's growing global service business."

All of the locomotives covered under the General Electric agreement will be maintained in CN's Symington locomotive reliability centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The balance of CN's fleet will continue to be maintained as usual in Toronto, Edmonton, and Vancouver.
