CN Signs First Tentative Agreement in Current Round of National Labor Negotiations.

:CNI) Canadian National has reached a tentative agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) is a labor union which represents workers in the electrical industry in the United States and Canada, particularly electricians, or Inside Wiremen, in the construction industry and linemen and other employees of public  to renew a labor contract covering 845 IBEW IBEW n abbr (US) (= International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) → sindicato internacional de electricistas

This is CN's first tentative contract renewal in its current round of national labor negotiations.

While the proposed three-year agreement includes increased wages and benefits, precise terms of the IBEW pact will be withheld pending ratification by the IBEW's membership, a process expected to take about 30 days. CN's current contract with the IBEW expires Dec. 31, 1997.

CN is engaged in negotiations with six other unions, representing about 16,400 employees, to renew collective agreements expiring at year-end 1997.
