:CNI) Canadian National announced today it has signed a tentative new four-year labour agreement with the Association of Railway Unions (ARU) at Algoma Central Railway The Algoma Central Railway (AAR reporting marks AC, ACIS) was a railway in Northern Ontario that ran between Sault Ste. Marie and Hearst, with a branch line to Michipicoten. The area served by the railway is sparsely populated, with few roads.  (ACR) Inc.

The agreement, covering 124 active unionized employees at Algoma Central, is subject to a ratification vote. If approved, it would be retroactive to Feb. 1, 2001, and provide for increased wages and benefits.

The ARU bargains on behalf of six railway unions at Algoma Central, which CN acquired on Oct. 9, 2001, as part of its purchase of Wisconsin Central Transportation Corporation.
