Milton is located 20 miles west of Toronto and has ready access to major highways reaching key industrial and commercial areas in the Toronto region. The new terminal will be located between Tremaine Road, First Line, Britannia Road and Lower Base Line and is scheduled to open in late-2002. CN's existing intermodal terminal operation in the Toronto area is located in Brampton, Ont., south of Highway 7 and Airport Road.

The new Milton terminal will initially employ about 100 people and occupy about 100 acres of land. CN will brief area residents, the Regional Municipality of Halton, the Town of Milton, Transport Canada and the Canadian Transportation Agency about its terminal plan.

CN is increasing its intermodal terminal capacity to accommodate its fast-growing intermodal business - rail transport of containers and highway truck trailers - and to help reduce truck traffic on congested con·gest·ed
