CMs slot in Gilgit-Baltistan; PPPs right: Shah.

ISLAMABAD, November 14, 2009 (Balochistan Times): Pakistan Peoples Party Gilgit-Baltistan President Syed Mehdi Shah has said that the chief minister for the provincial set up will be from PPP, as it has emerged as single largest party in the assembly election. Talking to Radio Pakistan, he said that JUI-F and MQM have won two seats each. These two parties are coalition partners of PPP in Centre, so they will also be part of coalition government in Gilgit-Baltistan, he added. In response to a question about allegations of rigging by MQM, he said that MQM has no say in Gilgit-Baltistan. One of its candidates won his seat in his personal capacity. He said that PML-N and PML-Q are the second largest parties after the PPP in the area. Replying to another question, he said that the turn out has been very much higher than the previous elections. People came out for voting despite very low temperatures, he added. Killings, talks cannot go together: Nayeem ISLAMABAD: APHC leader in occupied Kashmir Nayeem Ahmad Khan has said that India should stop killings of innocent Kashmiris before initiating dialogue process to settle the Kashmir dispute. According to Kashmir Media Service, Nayeem Ahmad Khan, addressing a public gathering in Bandipore, said that India should revoke all draconian laws and release pro-freedom leaders and activists before starting the talks process. We are not against dialogue, but the earlier exercises yielded nothing. India should see things in the right perspective and solve the Kashmir dispute once for all, he added. Nayeem Khan urged the people to remain cautious and united at this crucial juncture and continue their struggle peacefully till the goal was achieved. We are the heirs of more than one lakh martyrs and have to safeguard their sacrifices, he maintained. The APHC leader said that India wanted to defame Kashmir movement by portraying it as extremism. He asked New Delhi to read the writing on the wall and settle the dispute according to the Kashmiris aspirations. Nayeem Khan said that the world community was realising the fact that the settlement of the longstanding dispute was imperative for the peace and stability of the world in general and South Asia in particular. He said that Kashmiris should also be involved in the dialogue process to make it result-oriented.
