CMTL Launches Intel Gold Certification Program.HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 14, 1999-- CMTL CMTL Chief Military Training Leader CMTL Center for Mathematics, Teaching and Learning (SM) (Computer Memory Test Labs) Tuesday announced that it has launched a new certification program for top tier memory module manufacturers. After completing over 350 Intel(R) Advanced Qualifications, CMTL has determined that a "GOLD" certification program for the manufacturer and memory module is needed in the industry. The GOLD certification program represents the next level up from the Advanced memory module qualification program that was developed by Intel and CMTL. To qualify for GOLD certification, the manufacturer must ship a minimum of 250,000 modules per month, build at least 75% of the modules in house and be ISO (1) See ISO speed. (2) (International Organization for Standardization, Geneva, Switzerland, www.iso.ch) An organization that sets international standards, founded in 1946. The U.S. member body is ANSI. 9000 compliant. The modules must be Advanced Qualified on all Intel desktop, workstation and server platforms. The module PCB PCB: see polychlorinated biphenyl. PCB in full polychlorinated biphenyl Any of a class of highly stable organic compounds prepared by the reaction of chlorine with biphenyl, a two-ring compound. (printed circuit board) must also meet IPC (1) (InterProcess Communication) The exchange of data between one program and another either within the same computer or over a network. It implies a protocol that guarantees a response to a request. Level 2 specifications. The addition of PCB testing signifies that as memory bus speeds have increased from 66Mhz to 100Mhz and now 133Mhz and Rambus, the PCB has become the most critical element of the module. PCB's will be submitted to CMTL on a scheduled basis in order to perform testing (includes cross-sections, material thickness verifications and electrical characteristics). Memory module vendors that meet the program requirements will have the CMTL logo etched into the PCB and a CMTL Gold certification sticker on each module. The module and PCB part numbers will also be registered and listed on CMTL's Web site (www.cmtlabs.com). Computer Memory Test Labs is a leading independent memory module testing laboratory that performs compatibility testing and certification for memory module and motherboard vendors in the computer industry. Memory module vendors that CMTL has performed certifications for include: Advantage, ATP ATP: see adenosine triphosphate.
