CMS ENHANCEMENTS ANNOUNCES NET INCOME FOR THIRD QUARTER FISCAL 1993; ANNOUNCEMENT MARKS THIRD CONSECUTIVE PROFITABLE QUARTER

IRVINE, Calif., May 7 /PRNewswire/ -- CMS Enhancements Inc. (NYSE: CME), a global producer of computer technology accessories and mass storage subsystems, today announced increased net income for the third quarter of fiscal 1993, ended March 31, 1993. The company realized net income of $83,000, or $.03 per share, compared to a net loss of ($1,210,000), or ($.41) per share, for the third quarter of fiscal 1992.
"Our third consecutive profitable quarter was the result of our focus on high-capacity storage products which strategically positions the company in the growing multimedia and local area network market," said Jim Farooquee, CMS' chief executive officer.
The new direction produced income gains despite lower net sales for the quarter. Net sales for the third quarter were $15,701,000, compared to $28,736,000, for the same quarter one year ago. The reduction is principally because of CMS dropping several unprofitable product lines.
CMS Enhancements, which recently formed two subsidiary companies, AnyBus Technologies Inc., and CDS Distribution Inc., is headquartered in Irvine. CMS is a $100 million, public company servicing more than 1,600 resellers and distributors in more than 60 countries. In addition to being a leading developer, designer, and marketer of value-added products and accessories for the personal and laptop computer industry, CMS is a global producer of a broad line of mass storage subsystems, ranging from 3.5-inch hard drives to CD-ROM and Magneto Optical products.
