CMRA appoints new Southern California Chapter director.


* Michael D. Ray has been named director the Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Ray's responsibilities include:

* Maintaining and developing a list of potential attendees to chapter meetings, which would double as list of potential members;

* Work to grow the membership base of CMRA;

* Form and maintain a group of local recycling members as a local board of directors;

* Work with this group to develop a chapter meeting three times per year, including program development and meeting logistics; and

* Work to solve local industry problems.

"We are delighted that Michael has decided to take over the reins of our Southern California Chapter," says Rick Givan, CMRA's current president and president of Recycled Materials, Arvada, Colo. "He brings a lot of experience into the position."

Ray has worked with several California building material and construction companies in a consultant capacity. He is currently the past chairman of the Asphalt asphalt (ăs`fôlt, –fălt), brownish-black substance used commonly in road making, roofing, and waterproofing. Chemically, it is a natural mixture of hydrocarbons.  Pavement Association--Los Angeles Contractors Committee, is a past president of the Southern California Paving and Grading Association, and currently serves as chairman of the AGC AGC Automatic Gain Control
