CMP eMployees Give $15,000 for Red Cross Disaster Relief.

AUGUSTA, Maine--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 19, 2001

A special day of fund-raising among Central Maine Power Co. employees has raised more than $15,000 to help the American Red Cross American Red Cross: see Red Cross.  assist victims and families affected by last week's terrorist attacks.

Volunteers collected $15,386 in cash donations and signed up 100 blood donors Friday at CMP CMP (cytidine monophosphate): see cytosine.

"I'm proud of our employees' generous response," said CMP President Sara J. Burns. "We had people donating before the volunteers had their tables set up. Our employees were touched by the tragedy inflicted on thousands of innocent people, and were eager to help."

Burns said CMP would match every dollar donated by employees with another dollar in shareholder funds provided by parent company Energy East.
