CMP Media Inc. (Nasdaq:CMPX CMPX Complex ) has named Evan Schuman Editorial Director of its custom publishing unit. Schuman, a nine-year CMP editorial veteran, will be responsible for the editorial quality of the company's custom publishing products and will report to Joyce Matheson, Vice President/Art Services and Custom Publishing.

 Matheson, the appointment helps CMP broaden a key vehicle that advertisers use to reach technology buyers. "More and more of our clients are using custom published products to break through the noise, and deliver strong messages about the commitment behind their products and the new initiatives they are mounting to be better business partners for both resellers and end users," she said. "With Evan on board we can now offer these clients even more value via new custom products that tackle the latest trends and issues with the same editorial quality and attention to technical detail that our newspapers and magazines have."

Prior to joining CMP's custom publishing unit, Schuman held a variety of positions in the company -- including most recently News Editor for TechWeb, InformationWeek and Unix Today -- and was named one of the top ten most influential on-line editors in the industry by Marketing Computers magazine. Earlier in his career, Schuman was a daily newspaper reporter who covered national legal, business and government issues for a variety of news media, including The New York New York, state, United States
