CMP LAUNCHES TWO NEW PUBLICATIONS, CLOSES TWO OTHERS.CMP Media (Manhasset, NY), a division of Miller Freeman An earlier subsidiary of United News & Media (www.unm.com). Miller Freeman was a leading trade show organizer and publisher serving a variety of industries. In 1996, it acquired the Blenheim Group, producers of the popular PC EXPO trade show, and in 1999, it acquired the CMP publishing company, a leading publisher of high-tech magazines. (San Francisco, CA) and subsidiary of United News & Media (London), has plans for the publication of two new information products. The company has also decided to close two magazines, including Performance Computing and Windows Systems. effective after the January 2000 issues. CMP will begin the publication of IntelligentERP, a new magazine for the SAP community, in March. It will be published six times a year in 2000 as a supplement to Intelligent Enterprise and will have a controlled circulation of 30,000 SAP managers and professionals involved in "maximizing their companies' investments in SAP for competitive advantage," CMP said. Editorial for IntelligentERP will include information on e-business support and applications, supply chain management, CRM and business intelligence. Editor-in-chief Morwenna Marshall said the publication is being designed to "help organizations (who) are faced with the challenge of integrating and interfacing multiple technologies from multiple vendors. IntelligentERP focuses on the best way to solve these problems." In related news, CMP (San Mateo, CA) has launched IntelligentEAI, a new publication dedicated to e-business integration, CMP said. The first in the planned series of Web pages/print supplement "communities," the launch is available via the magazine's Web site and in print as a supplement to Intelligent Enterprise. IE editor David Stoddard said that, in a reversal of the usual relationship, "the Web site is the main event. The activities at the Web site will drive our print content." Editorial for the launch will focus on issues, news and events related to IT, CMP said. It includes technical and strategic information on enterprise application integration/e-business integration through its Web site and print product, research reports and targeted events. CMP will cease publication of Performance Computing and Windows Systems magzines effective after the January 2000 issues. Both magazines were part of the former Miller Freeman technology portfolio recently integrated with CMP Media. Performance Computing, formerly UNIX Review, was started in 1983. Miller Freeman bought the magazine in 1985. Windows Systems, formerly Windows NT Systems, was launched in 1997 and focused on systems management and administration. |
