:BBN) today announced that they have signed an agreement under which CMGI has licensed BBN's PINpaper(TM) intelligent agent technology for use in CMGI companies' Internet-related products.

BBN PINpaper is a personalized Internet software "newspaper" with advanced intelligent agents that can search through the World Wide Web, newsgroups This is a list of newsgroups that are significant for their popularity or their position in Usenet history.

As of October 2002, there are about 100,000 Usenet newsgroups, of which approximately a fifth are active.
, internal E-mail and various other sources to find and summarize information of interest to individual users on the Internet. The information is presented in an individually formatted Web page.

CMGI intends to make this "personal newspaper" application available free through CMGI's Internet-related companies, as well as to corporate users for their intranets.

CMGI President and CEO David Wetherell said, "We are particularly pleased with the richness of the PINpaper technology, which can take news feeds from any source on the Internet as well as from intranets, including Lotus Notes Messaging and groupware software from IBM Lotus that was introduced in 1989 for OS/2 and later expanded to Windows, Mac, Unix, NetWare, AS/400 and S/390. Notes provides e-mail, document sharing, workflow, group discussions and calendaring and scheduling. (a). We look forward to working closely with BBN to advance the technology further and leverage its value across CMGI's family of companies."

Under terms of the agreement, CMGI and BBN will cooperatively adapt the PINpaper technology to support future CMGI Internet services. The agreement gives CMGI exclusive marketing rights for the PINpaper technology for general purpose Internet search engine applications and provides CMGI with access to advancements in BBN PINpaper capabilities. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed.

BBN Corporation is a leading provider of Internet solutions to business. For its fiscal year ended June 30, 1995, BBN posted revenues of $215 million.
