(Nasdaq:CMGI CMGI Commonly Maintained Grounds Infrastructures CMGI College Marketing Group Information (Services) ) and BBN (BBN Technologies, Cambridge, MA, www.bbn.com) A consulting firm that participated in the development of some of the most extensive networks in the world, including ARPANET, which evolved into the Internet. It was founded in 1948 as a consulting service in acoustics by Dr. Corporation (NYSE NYSE See: New York Stock Exchange :BBN) today announced that they have signed an agreement under which CMGI has licensed BBN's PINpaper(TM) intelligent agent technology for use in CMGI companies' Internet-related products. BBN PINpaper is a personalized Internet software "newspaper" with advanced intelligent agents that can search through the World Wide Web, newsgroups This is a list of newsgroups that are significant for their popularity or their position in Usenet history. As of October 2002, there are about 100,000 Usenet newsgroups, of which approximately a fifth are active. , internal E-mail and various other sources to find and summarize information of interest to individual users on the Internet. The information is presented in an individually formatted Web page. CMGI intends to make this "personal newspaper" application available free through CMGI's Internet-related companies, as well as to corporate users for their intranets. Under terms of the agreement, CMGI and BBN will cooperatively adapt the PINpaper technology to support future CMGI Internet services. The agreement gives CMGI exclusive marketing rights for the PINpaper technology for general purpose Internet search engine applications and provides CMGI with access to advancements in BBN PINpaper capabilities. Financial details of the agreement were not disclosed. BBN Corporation is a leading provider of Internet solutions to business.
