In addition, CMGI and Akamai announced that it is their intention to collaborate to develop new technologies to create and deliver dynamic content and applications that serve the growing interest of both companies.

By taking advantage of Akamai's FreeFlow(SM) service, CMGI is improving the speed and reliability of its Web properties' content delivery. CMGI-related companies currently partnering with Akamai include NaviSite, a leading provider of Web hosting Making a Web site available on the Internet. Through a strategic technology partnership with Akamai, NaviSite offers customers access to an end-to-end content distribution system combined with application and server management services, and is the provider of Akamai's FreeFlow to CMGI companies.

Working together, several CMGI companies are collaborating with Akamai to develop new technologies that will provide intelligent decision-making capabilities at the edges of the Internet network to create and deliver dynamic content and applications. These projects will involve the joint development of applications to deliver and market services such as targeted advertising, dynamic page and content assembly, application delivery or usage research and analysis services, based on services now contained within the CMGI and Akamai networks. Akamai announced yesterday the introduction of its EdgeAdvantage(TM) platform that will enable applications to be delivered from the edge of the Internet, ensuring the same consistency and reliability available through Akamai FreeFlow service.

Commenting on the announcement, David Wetherell, CMGI Chairman and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. We look forward to an expansive relationship with Akamai that not only will provide benefits to the CMGI network today, but will also work to develop new technologies to support our mutual growth moving forward."

Akamai Chairman and CEO George Conrades commented, "As a recognized leader in today's Internet economy The Internet Economy refers to conducting business through markets whose infrastructure is based on the Internet and World-Wide Web. Akamai's cooperative efforts with CMGI will create a powerful relationship for enabling Web properties to experience enhanced performance, reliability, and functionality. It is clear that CMGI and Akamai share a common vision for advancing those technologies that will create a better Internet."

NaviSite's partnership with Akamai provides NaviSite's customers with access to an end-to-end content distribution system combined with application and server management services. The enhanced content delivery service, combined with application and server management, allows Web sites to offer powerful and engaging content -- without the expense of building unwanted infrastructure or large technical staffs. The agreement between NaviSite and Akamai has four distinct elements: joint network deployment; co-marketing; reselling; and technology exploration and development. NaviSite and Akamai will also integrate their management systems, allowing NaviSite to perform complete problem resolution management for all aspects of the NaviSite Content Distribution service.
