CMGI Appoints Thomas Oberdorf Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer.

ANDOVER, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 4, 2002

CMGI, Inc. (Nasdaq: CMGI), the Internet operating and development company, today announced the appointment of Thomas Oberdorf as Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Oberdorf replaces George McMillan who assumed the role of CMGI Chief Executive Officer and director effective March 1, 2002.

In his role as CFO, Oberdorf will oversee all financial operations and planning functions for CMGI. As an executive officer, Oberdorf will also join McMillan, CMGI Chairman David Wetherell, and President and COO David Andonian as a member of CMGI's two executive committees which oversee performance management, cross-company policy and strategy for CMGI and its subsidiaries.

Oberdorf, a seasoned financial executive with more than 20 years' experience in both domestic and international business environments, joins CMGI from BeMusic Direct, a billion-dollar division of Bertlesmann AG, where he served as CFO and Senior Vice President. At BMG Direct, Oberdorf was responsible for all accounting, financial planning and inventory management functions, including the negotiation and integration of mergers and acquisitions.

Prior to BMG, Oberfdorf spent 18 years with Reader's Digest Association, Inc., concluding as Vice President, Finance for the Global Books & Home Entertainment Group. There he managed financial operations for the US, Europe, Latin America, Africa, Australia and the Far East, including an international team of more than 50 finance professionals. Oberdorf also spent three years in Europe developing new business for Reader's Digest throughout Central and Eastern Europe which significantly added to their overall revenue base. Early career experience includes tenure with Cheesebrough-Pond's.

Oberdorf received a B.S. in Accounting from Boston College and an M.B.A. from the University of New Haven in Connecticut.
