The agreement adds new capabilities and performance enhancements to The NaviPath Technology Platform, an innovative network architecture that is the foundation for NaviPath's GeoDial(TM) (wholesale access service) and NaviOne(TM) solution suite (branded services). In addition, NaviPath announced the release of GeoDial Version 4.

As a result of the relationship with Akamai, NaviPath will deploy Akamai's Web servers in key points of presence within the NaviPath network. By placing Akamai's servers in these key locations, and thus Akamai's leading EdgeAdvantage(TM) technology, NaviPath will improve its performance and reliability in delivering all forms of Web content, streaming media See streaming audio, streaming video and digital media hub.  and applications from top Web properties to NaviPath's extensive base of wholesale and branded services' customers.

NaviPath will provide Akamai with fast and reliable Internet connectivity for improving the speed and performance of popular, high-bandwidth Web sites. NaviPath will also be among the first dial access networks to join Akamai's Accelerated Network Program. "Akamai is excited to join forces with NaviPath to provide enhanced Internet performance solutions," said George Conrades, Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of Akamai. "The combination of NaviPath's broad reaching access service and their extensive subscriber base provides Akamai with an ideal environment to speed delivery of Web content."

NaviPath & Akamai's Accelerated Network Program

Through Akamai's Accelerated Network Program, NaviPath, among other network providers and dial access services, has joined forces with Akamai to place Akamai servers in their network to improve Web performance to both dial and broadband subscribers. Unique to the Akamai and NaviPath relationship is the recognized value of deploying Akamai's technology within NaviPath's private transit Internet connectivity rather than that of traditional public peering. This approach provides Internet connectivity for customers that depend on the Internet as a strategic resource, enabling NaviPath to provide uninterrupted services and predictable pricing plans to its customers.

"Akamai is changing the way content, applications and streaming media are delivered on the Web, and many of the busiest sites are adopting the Akamai service for optimal performance," said TC Browne, Chief Executive Officer of NaviPath. "Our GeoDial access service and NaviOne solution suite will greatly benefit from the deployment of Akamai's servers throughout our high performance network."

GeoDial v.4 Introduced

Like its predecessor, version 4 of GeoDial leverages NaviPath's powerful network architecture to avoid Internet congestion The condition of a network when there is not enough bandwidth to support the current traffic load.
