CMD Technology, the recognized leader in advanced high-end RAID controller technology, introduced today its CSV-8160 FDDI interface module option providing users with three times the performance, long distance, disaster tolerant clustered storage for Digital environments at half the cost.

When installed into the CMD Trident Array Server, this interface module provides a high speed FDDI interface for accessing each SCSI device attached to the server.

The CMD Trident CSV-8160 FDDI interface module incorporates the latest FDDI Full Duplex (FDX) Technology (FDDT) for up to 200 Mb/sec transfer rates when connected to a Digital FDDI host controller or Digital's GIGA switch intelligent multiport packet switch implementing the same technology.

One of the benefits of this interface is that it can be used as the sole cluster connection to the CMD Trident Array or in conjunction with the CMD Trident's CI and/or DSSI cluster interfaces. Since the FDDI, CI, and DSSI interfaces in the CMD Trident Array each have their own unique data paths and control logic, cluster-bus performance remains linear whether you are configured for one interface or all three simultaneously.

This powerful architecture provides the unique ability to inexpensively migrate or consolidate storage for mixed FDDI, CI and DSSI cluster environments. This gives you three SCSI storage servers in one inexpensive, compact and ultra-high performance package.

In a redundant, full duplex configuration, the Trident Array performs over 5900 QIO's per second with a spiral throughput of over 16 MB/sec.
