Peter Kavounas, former vice president who was re-elected to the board in the November election, was chosen to lead the board for the next two years. Board member William Pecsi, who works for the Metropolitan Water District, will work beside him as vice president.

``I'm going to help the board be as effective as it can be,'' Kavounas said Tuesday. ``The course is set by the board; the president just makes that happen.''

Kavounas and Pecsi were elected to their new positions after honoring outgoing board member Ed Dunn for his four years on the board representing Division 1. Dunn was well known for objecting to the board's actions and speaking on behalf of environmental advocates.

Ed Colley, who administers the Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps for the William S. Hart Union High School District, took Dunn's position.

Colley and Jacque McMillan, who filled the seat vacated by former board President Don Froelich, were installed as members. Tom Campbell was reinstalled and Richard Green Richard Green may refer to:

Kavounas said he looks forward to working with the new board, and is excited that the new members will bring fresh ideas and different voices to the meetings, especially Colley, who lives and works in the Santa Clarita Valley The Santa Clarita Valley is the valley of the Santa Clara River in Southern California. Their voices will be instrumental as the board focuses on guaranteeing its State Water Project entitlements, its ability to treat water as well as to store groundwater, Kavounas said. ``We need to make sure we're doing things well,'' he said.
