CLUBBING NEWS; clubbing.

Byline: andy everett

LIKE it or not, the DJ Mag top 100 is the chart that most DJs want to place high on.

They may not always admit being interested but you can guarantee that anyone polling high on the list will have it plastered all over their websites and MySpace pages until 2010's event comes round.

There's always a little controversy, with this year's main surprise being that global superstar David Guetta David Guetta (born November 7 1967 in Paris) is a French DJ.

At age 13, he began mixing his first vinyls. At 17, he worked as a DJ at 'Broad' in Paris, launching his career. From 1988–1990, he mixed house music at Radio Nova.
didn't manage to take top spot. That accolade goes to Armin van Buuren Armin van Buuren (born December 25, 1976) is a trance music DJ and producer from Leiden, the Netherlands. He is currently ranked #3 worldwide according to The DJ List, the world's largest DJ directory.[1] For 2006, he placed 2nd in DJ Mag's annual Top 100 vote.  for a third year in a row, with fellow Dutch trance contingent occupying a further three spots in the top 10.

Many will wonder how acclaimed DJs such as James Zabiela James Zabiela (born August 7, 1979) is a DJ from Southampton in the United Kingdom. His signature style is a fusion of Breakbeat and House music. He is known for his turntable skills, extensive use of loops and effects, and the use of the Pioneer CDJ1000s, EFX1000 as well as more  (38), Sven Vath (48), Luciano (89) and Danny Tenaglia (107) place so far down the list. And Scots stalwarts such as Slam and Funk D'Void fail to feature in the top 150.

Perhaps DJ Mag should just start calling it the Trance Awards and have another poll for everyone else.
