CLUB HELPS SINGERS REALIZE MUSICAL DREAM AT CARNEGIE HALL.

A group of local students will perform at Carnegie Hall Carnegie Hall

 this spring thanks in part to a little help from the Woodland Hills Woman's Club, which got them a bit closer to appearing at the world famous venue.

The El Camino Real High School El Camino Real High School (also known locally as "ECR" and by some more recently as "ELCO") is a public secondary school located in the Woodland Hills district of the San Fernando Valley region of the city of Los Angeles, California.  Camerata Chamber Choir A chamber choir is the choral equivalent of a chamber ensemble, using voices instead of instruments. The choir will usually consist of 5-15 elite singers, often associated with a larger choral group.  performed at the Feb. 9 meeting of the Woman's Club, singing familiar songs such as ``Johnny B. Goode,'' ``You'll Never Walk Alone'' from the musical ``Carousel'' and a medley from ``The King and I.''

At the conclusion of the performance, the club gave the singers a $500 check to help cover their travel expenses when they go to the Big Apple in April to perform at Carnegie Hall.  of a piece titled ``Messa Americana'' by composer Ed Lojeski of Agoura Hills, said Terrence Fisher, the choir's director.

The performance will be at 8 p.m. Monday, April 24.

Lojeski had heard the 24-member choir sing at a local performance last year and asked the group to sing his new work, which was commissioned by the Carnegie Foundation

The total cost for the trip will be $40,000 and Fisher said all of the funds have been raised. In addition to the Woodland Hills Chamber of Commerce, the Westfield Topanga Mall also donated money to the choir.

Lojeski's ``Messa Americana'' was just published last week, so the Camerata singers are hard at work rehearsing. ``We have two months to learn it and memorize it,'' Fisher said.
