Shin splints refer to the sharp pains that occur down the front of the lower leg. They are a common complaint, particularly among runners and other athletes.

And, oh yeah, she woke up Friday morning to find out she was ineligible in·el·i·gi·ble

In a day she described as ``hectic,'' Clow proved her eligibility by providing an updated transcript from her junior college and is now the leading scorer for the Cal State Northridge women's soccer team after one game.

 McGowan and Jenn Gardner also scored for Northridge. Everyone played, as Wiesner substituted heavily in the second half.

Morgan Pedford, who started the game in goal, scored in the 79th minute for Division II Cal State L.A.

Some of the news Friday was bad for Northridge. Sophomore Marrica Pichaikul, expected to start at center forward, was declared ineligible Friday morning. Wiesner said her grade-point average was 1.93. Northridge requires a 2.0 for its athletes to be eligible.
