LANCASTER - Pirates and fairies are likely to be abundant this Halloween, along with the usual vampires, ghosts and ghouls.

Fairy costumes - in shades from pink and blue to black, for ``graveyard'' fairies - or sexy vampires are popular among girls and women, while Johnny Depp's character of Jack Sparrow Jack Sparrow is a fictional character in the Pirates of the Caribbean universe. He was introduced in (2003) and appeared in the back-to-back sequels, (2006) and (2007), where he was portrayed by Johnny Depp.  in the movie ``Pirates of the Caribbean This article is about the franchise. Earle LaFlamme, 45, of Lancaster is going the Depp route, hoping that his costume as the pirate Sparrow will win him the competition at Grocery Warehouse, where he's the manager.

He was shopping on Wednesday to find accessories for his outfit. ``I like pirates and I like the movie,'' said LaFlamme. ``I picked him because he's the hero of the movie.''
