NORTHERN Ireland can enjoy greater prosperity through a closer relationship with Syria, the country's ambassador to the UK said yesterday.

After meeting 70 local business people, Dr Sami Khiyami said he wants to encourage tourism and business links. He added: "We are preparing for more extensive co-operation, ultimately to reach certain agreements on the official side but I also advise the private sector to invest in the other country."
