 began meeting for jam sessions. Over time, the small Valley Jazz Club A jazz club is a venue where the primary entertainment is live jazz. Often such venues are in the basement of residential buildings. They are rather small compared to other music venues, reflecting the intimate atmosphere of jazz concerts.  grew. Now, more than 100 men and women meet monthly to showcase their skills. The group has seen musicians come and go - not unlike the jazz bands throughout history. Past members have included former radio host Benson Curtis and musicians who have played with such jazz greats as Louis Armstrong.

The monthly jam sessions are open to anyone who shows up with an instrument in hand, ready to cut loose.

The Valley Jazz Club meets the first Sunday Sunday: see Sabbath; week.  of each month at the Elk's Lodge Hall, 20917 Osborne St., Canoga Park. Admission is $7. The Feb. 4 meeting will feature Bob Christy chris·ty
