Although PTA members had already started their annual recruitment drive, Olivier said that the challenge made the drive an overwhelming success.

``The students are real fired up,'' Olivier said before the salon treatment. ``He has a big, thick head of hair.''

To gain the 100 percent PTA membership, officials said that they had to get representation for all 928 students at the school. Some members paid as much as $50 in pledges for those who had not paid their $5 dues.

As Lina Patel of Fantastic Sam's took the first strokes of the day, Olivier asked Baker, ``What did you do to those people? They want to see you bald.''
