Clippers (6-31) update: The Clippers (6-31) have won two in a row, three of four and are threatening to allow Vancouver's Grizzlies to catch them in the lottery derby. With point guard Sherman Douglas waving the conductor's stick, the offense is making joyful noises. Maurice Taylor is rebounding enough to keep coach Chris Ford reasonably happy. Small forwards Tyrone Nesby and Lamond Murray combined for 42 points in Tuesday's victory over New Jersey.

Jazz (29-8) update: The Jazz has won eight of 10, but this team almost always wins eight of 10. Forwards Bryon Russell and Karl Malone combined for 54 points in Tuesday's overtime victory against Sacramento. Center Greg Ostertag was DQ'd from that game for the illegal clobbering of Kings center Vlade Divac. In the 103-77 loss to the Clippers at The Pond last month, Ostertag was clobbered by the jump hook of rookie Michael Olowokandi, who had nine points and nine rebounds in the first quarter.
