was waived by the Clippers on Friday, the same day a contract agreement was reached with Yugoslav guard Marko Jaric.

The 5-foot-5 Boykins has played in the NBA for four seasons and has been with the New Jersey Nets, Cavs and Orlando Magic The Orlando Magic is a professional basketball team based in Orlando, Florida. They play in the National Basketball Association (NBA). History

, in addition to the Clippers.

When backup point guard Keyon Dooling Keyon Latwae Dooling (born May 8, 1980 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida) is an American professional basketball player who currently plays for the Orlando Magic of the NBA.  severely sprained his left ankle this season, Boykins got a chance to play more games than any of his previous three seasons. He played in 68 games, averaged 4.1 points and 11.2 minutes. In the previous three seasons, the most games he ever played in a single season was 26.

The Clippers officially will have Jaric signed on July 17, when the league starts its free-agent signing period. He will be contracted for at least three years and for more than $2 million per season.

The 6-foot-7 Jaric was the first pick in the second round of the 2000 draft. He spent the past two seasons playing overseas, and Clippers general manager Elgin Baylor Elgin Gay Baylor (born September 16, 1934 in Washington, D.C.) is a retired American basketball player who played 13 seasons as a forward for the NBA's Minneapolis Lakers/Los Angeles Lakers. Baylor was a gifted shooter, a strong rebounder, and an accomplished passer.  considers him the best point guard in Europe. As a foreign player, he has been Clippers property since he was drafted.

Boykins' waiving happened even though the Clippers have just two point guards, Jaric and Dooling for the time being. Deals with Cleveland (involving Miller) or New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded  (involving Baron Davis) are possible, though unlikely to take place before the start of training camp.

It is uncertain whether the Clippers will be content to have Jaric as their starting point guard. He is a converted point guard who averaged 13.0 points and 2.1 assists for Kinder Bologna of the Italian League this season.

Jaric has a commitment to play for the Yugoslav national team in the World Basketball Championship this summer and might have limited time with the Clippers in summer-league play because of that.
