Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State is preparing for forward Loy Vaught Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a retired American basketball player who spent ten seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers. to be out for the rest of the season because of back surgery. Vaught saw a specialist on Tuesday and is expected to have major surgery as early as next week. Vaught has played in 10 games and averaged just 7.5 points this season. In seven seasons, this is Vaught's first serious injury. Vaught saw specialist Dr. Ted Goldstein last week and was given the option of having surgery now or at the end of the season. He's opted for now. ``Unless there's a miracle, he's gone,'' Fitch said. ``That's his status.'' And, because Vaught is a free agent at the end of the season, Vaught might have played his last game for the Clippers.
