CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK : SPRAINED RIGHT ANKLE COULD SHACKLE SEALY.

Byline: Gary Washburn Daily News Staff Writer

Malik Sealy Malik Sealy (February 1, 1970 – May 20, 2000) was an American professional basketball player from 1992 until his death in an automobile accident. Sealy played eight seasons in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Minnesota , the Clipper who will more than likely guard Michael Jordan This article is about the former basketball player. For other uses, see Michael Jordan (disambiguation).

Michael Jeffrey Jordan (born February 17 1963) is a retired American professional basketball player.
when the Bulls come to the Sports Arena tonight, is listed as day-to-day with a sprained right ankle.

Sealy limped off the court with two minutes left in the 98-96 loss to Minnesota on Saturday and didn't play again. He did not practice on Sunday, but the sprain sprain, stretching or wrenching of the ligaments and tendons of a joint, often with rupture of the tissues but without dislocation. Sprains occur most commonly at the ankle, knee, or wrist joints, causing pain, swelling, and difficulty in moving the involved joint.  is not believed to be serious.

Sealy scored 15 points in 34 minutes against Minnesota with five rebounds.

Meanwhile, unbeknownst to anyone at the time, guard Eric Piatkowski Eric Todd Piatkowski (pronounced IPA: /ˌpaɪətˈkaʊski/) (born September 30, 1970, in Steubenville, Ohio) is an American National Basketball Association player with the Phoenix Suns.  sprained his left ankle in second-quarter action against the Timberwolves. He returned to the game in the final minutes and banked in a 3-pointer with 7.9 seconds left.

Despite the shortness of the stint, 12 minutes, it was Piatkowski's best game of the season with 15 points. He scored 12 in the second quarter but didn't see action again until the final seconds. Piatkowski did practice Sunday.

Missed freebies: The Minnesota game might have turned out differently if the Clippers had hit their free throws. The club made 30 of 45 free throws. That hurt in the fourth quarter, when the Timberwolves were fouling and the Clippers would trade one free throw for a Minnesota field goal, helping the Minnesota rally which won the game.

``We needed two free throws, not one,'' coach Bill Fitch William Fitch (born May 19 1934 in Davenport, Iowa) is a former NBA coach who has been successful in making teams playoff contenders throughout his coaching career. Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State  said. ``They're going to foul Stanley (Roberts) down the stretch and he needs to make both.''

Roberts hit 8 of 11, but two of those three misses were late in the fourth quarter. Loy Vaught Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a retired American basketball player who spent ten seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers. , Pooh Richardson Jerome "Pooh" Richardson (born May 14 1966 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player.

The 6'1" point guard was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the tenth overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft out of UCLA.
and Kevin Duckworth Kevin Jerome Duckworth, aka The Duck (born April 1, 1964 in Harvey, Illinois) is an American former professional basketball player at center in the National Basketball Association, most notably a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.  combined to miss 6 of 8.

Confidence: Two old Big East buddies were talking it up late in the fourth quarter on Saturday. On a crucial possession, the Clippers' Terry Dehere (Seton Hall) told Minnesota's Doug West (Villanova) that he wouldn't score.

West didn't. If fact, he didn't even get the ball. But a basket was scored by Kevin Garnett, the second-year phenom who didn't even go to college.

The big time: The Clippers will make their only national-television appearance on Wednesday when the Miami game is telecast on TNT TNT: see trinitrotoluene.

. Not good circumstances, especially since Chicago is coming off a loss. The biggest obstacle will be finding someone to guard Michael Jordan, especially since Malik Sealy isn't 100 percent healthy. Rodney Rogers will offset Scottie Pippen by matching the Dream Teamer bucket for bucket. Loy Vaught will once again have his hands full with an active rebounder, this time Dennis Rodman, who is averaging 16 boards per game. The key could be the Stanley Roberts-Luc Longley matchup. It's the only one at which the Clippers have an advantage.

Bulls (12-1) update: The Bulls are in the middle of a West Coast swing and lost a tough game at Utah on Saturday. The Bulls have not lost back-to-back games since Denver and Phoenix beat them last season on a West Coast trip. Michael Jordan is averaging 30.7 points per game after his 44-point game in Salt Lake City, while Scottie Pippen has struggled from the field (44 percent) and from the line (63 percent). But the Bulls have so many guns, it really hasn't hurt the team. Former Clipper Ron Harper returns to play his ex-mates and will be matched up against Pooh Richardson.
