CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK : SEALY KEEPS MIND IN L.A.

Byline: Gary Washburn Daily News Staff Writer

It's another trade rumor regarding Malik Sealy Malik Sealy (February 1, 1970 – May 20, 2000) was an American professional basketball player from 1992 until his death in an automobile accident. Sealy played eight seasons in the NBA for the Indiana Pacers, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Detroit Pistons, and the Minnesota , and the guard is once again trying to concentrate on playing for the Clippers.

First it was the Hawks who inquired about Sealy, and now the Dallas Mavericks The introduction of this article is too short.

at guard and current five-game losing streak are reasons that some changes could be made. Sealy, the Clippers' leading scorer at 13.3 points per game, has already been traded once.

``I've been through it, so it's not really something I can worry about,'' said Sealy, who was dealt from Indiana after the 1993-94 season. ``It feels good (that teams are interested), but I have to play for the Clippers until something changes. I want to help this team win.''

Sealy has scored two points in the past two games, shooting just 1 for 12 from the field. He said unlike his slump to begin the season, Sealy's problem could be physical.

``I don't think I'm hitting the weights enough,'' Sealy said. ``If I'm shooting short or long then I'm fine. If I shooting to the left or right then something's wrong.''

Sealy has logged just 36 minutes in the past two games, and coach Bill Fitch William Fitch (born May 19 1934 in Davenport, Iowa) is a former NBA coach who has been successful in making teams playoff contenders throughout his coaching career. Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State  didn't play Sealy until the final minute of the fourth quarter in Friday's 102-98 loss to Portland.

Another injury? Forward Rodney Rogers Rodney Ray Rogers (born June 20, 1971, in Durham, North Carolina) is a retired American basketball player who last played power forward for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.

Rogers played college basketball at Wake Forest University from 1990 until 1993.
did not practice on Saturday after spraining his neck against the Blazers.

Rogers is listed as day-to-day but was in pain as he tried to participate in practice.

``He couldn't even play a good game of checkers without someone holding up his neck,'' Fitch said. ``He didn't look good today.''

Rogers scored 25 points in 32 minutes against Portland but didn't play the last 11 minutes. Rogers is one of the few Clippers to play every game this year without injury.

Slowing recovering: Center Stanley Roberts Stanley Corvet Roberts (born February 7 1970, in Hopkins, South Carolina) is an American former professional basketball player who was selected by the Orlando Magic in the 1st round (23rd overall) of the 1991 NBA Draft.  ran up and down the court and is progressing from a ruptured disc in his back.

Roberts is weeks from returning to the lineup and could start practicing with the team when it returns from a five-game roadtrip on Jan 12.

Inconsistencies: Once again, no Clippers player is stepping to the forefront in the late-going and Fitch is looking for Looking for

 some consistency off the bench.

After scoring 17 and 12 points in the previous two games, Lamond Murray Lamond Maurice Murray (April 20 1973 in Pasadena, California, U.S.) is an American former professional basketball player who last played with the National Basketball Association's New Jersey Nets.  struggled against Portland, while Eric Piatkowski had three points in 13 minutes and couldn't stop Isaiah Rider down the stretch.

Rogers' 25 points was not enough.

``If the other four guys played as well as he did, then we could have pulled it out,'' Fitch said. ``We don't get those Bird, Magic or Dr. J games from our guys.''
