CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK : ROGERS SAYS HE AIMS TO BEEF UP HIS SCORING.

Rodney Rogers Rodney Ray Rogers (born June 20, 1971, in Durham, North Carolina) is a retired American basketball player who last played power forward for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.

Rogers played college basketball at Wake Forest University from 1990 until 1993.
says he won't let this be an average season.

The 6-foot-8, powerful Clippers forward has put together an impressive training camp and could be a player to watch in the Western Conference.

A determined Rogers has decided to take more of the team's scoring load. Loy Vaught Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a retired American basketball player who spent ten seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers.  led the team in scoring last season with 16 points per game and Brian Williams This article is about the American journalist.  was second with 15.8. Williams is unsigned, meaning someone will have to take up the offensive slack.

Why not Rogers?

``I've got to take more of a leadership role on this team,'' Rogers said Wednesday after the team's final home workout before the season opener. ``I can do it and I am willing to do it. If that means more scoring, then that's what I'll do.''

Rogers has scored points in bunches during the exhibition season. He had 19 at Atlanta, 19 against the 76ers and 21 against the Nuggets Nuggets can refer to several branches of interest:
  • , a compilation of U.S. psychedelic rock released between 1965 and 1968
  • , a Rhino Records box set of non-U.S.
.

The scoring output is a surprise for the fourth-year player from Wake Forest. He was somewhat passive last season, taking just 9.5 shots in 29 minutes per game (11.6 point average).

No decision: Coach Bill Fitch William Fitch (born May 19 1934 in Davenport, Iowa) is a former NBA coach who has been successful in making teams playoff contenders throughout his coaching career. Before entering the professional ranks he coached college ball at the University of Minnesota, Bowling Green State  said he will wait until Friday to decide which center to put on the injured list. Fitch did say that Kevin Duckworth Kevin Jerome Duckworth, aka The Duck (born April 1, 1964 in Harvey, Illinois) is an American former professional basketball player at center in the National Basketball Association, most notably a member of the Portland Trail Blazers.  appears to be in the best playing condition two days before the season opener.

Meanwhile, Stanley Roberts missed Wednesday's workout with the flu. The center will travel with the team and should be ready for the season opener - if he's not put on the injured list.

Injury continues: Guard Brent Barry's sprained thumb is healing but is not ahead of schedule, team doctor Tony Daly said after he examined Barry on Tuesday. Barry was fitted with a new cast and will have it re-examined on Monday. He is expected to miss two to three more weeks.
