The attorney representing a Sacramento woman is demanding a multimillion-dollar payment from Clippers center Michael Olowokandi in a civil action filed Tuesday in Stockton.

According to a statement released Wednesday by Olowokandi's representatives at Bill Duffy and Associates Sports Management, the woman - who, like Olowokandi, was a University of Pacific student at the time - is alleging her 1998 relationship with Olowokandi that produced a child included one sexual encounter that was not consensual.

Still, no criminal charges have been filed. The woman has not petitioned for custody of the child or financial remuneration for its welfare. As of Wednesday night, Olowokandi's attorney had not been served with the civil papers.

Duffy would not provide names of those involved, or more specific information about the situation, in order to protect the interests of the four-month-old boy, who was given up for adoption by his mother immediately after birth. According to BDA's statement, Olowokandi was consulted by the woman before the adoption process began and handled the attendant financial responsibilities.

But about a year after the alleged incident and four months after signing a three-year, $10 million contract as the first overall pick in the 1998 NBA Draft, Olowokandi - who, according to the BDA statement, passed a polygraph test concerning the issue of consent - is facing civil action.
