CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK: MURRAY SPARKING OFFENSE.

Byline: Gary Washburn Daily News Staff Writer

It's a good start, and that's encouraging for Lamond Murray Lamond Maurice Murray (April 20 1973 in Pasadena, California, U.S.) is an American former professional basketball player who last played with the National Basketball Association's New Jersey Nets. .

The fourth-year Clippers forward has asked for consistent minutes, and he earned them with his performance in training camp.

It's only two games, but Murray has hit 9 of his first 15 shots, which is especially encouraging because he was under 40 percent shooting last season.

Fitch is using Murray as a spark plug spark plug: see ignition.

off the bench, and in both games, he's had flashes showing why the Clippers drafted him seventh in 1994.

That's all they ask. Rodney Rogers Rodney Ray Rogers (born June 20, 1971, in Durham, North Carolina) is a retired American basketball player who last played power forward for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers.

Rogers played college basketball at Wake Forest University from 1990 until 1993.

He is known by his nickname, "Bones", and stands 6 ft 7 in (2.01 m).  and Loy Vaught Loy Stephen Vaught (born February 27, 1968 in Grand Rapids, Michigan) is a retired American basketball player who spent ten seasons in the NBA, primarily with the Los Angeles Clippers.  also are going to provide points.

Murray is behind those three in scoring, averaging 11 points per game.

``My job is to come off the bench and give us some offense,'' Murray said. ``That's what I want to do. My shot has been falling and I know my role. I like it.''

The Clippers need all the offense they can get with Darrick Martin Darrick David Martin (born March 6, 1971 in Denver, Colorado, United States) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the NBA's Toronto Raptors. Martin has became known as a solid veteran who provided quality minutes as a reserve, maintaining a career free  struggling and Stojko Vrankovic concentrating on defense and rebounding.

Piatkowski back: Eric Piatkowski returned to practice on Monday after missing the first two games with an inner-ear infection.

The Clippers are waiting to see the rejuvenated re·ju·ve·nate

Piatkowski, who has been promised more of a role in the offense.

Piatkowski wanted to avoid going on the injured list. The flu put him on the injured list for seven games last season.

No concern, yet: Losing the first two games is not making any Clipper panic. But they'd better start winning soon. The Clippers face Sacramento and Vancouver after Wednesday's Houston game, two possible wins.

After that, the Clippers embark on a road trip to Charlotte, Atlanta, Orlando and Miami and then return home to face Chicago and the Lakers. Ouch.

``You've got to play everybody,'' Clippers coach Bill Fitch said. ``But it's going to be tough. We're going to have to show we can get through it.''
