CLIPPERS NOTEBOOK: GENTRY CLOSES IN ON PERSONNEL DECISION.

PALM DESERT - It's not exactly Bizarro World The Bizarro World (also known as Htrae) is a fictional planet in the DC comics universe. It won't be the good Clippers vs. the evil Clippers. However, the Clippers play an intrasquad scrimmage at College of the Desert this afternoon, their final day of training camp.

Coach Alvin Gentry Alvin Gentry is an American professional basketball coach, and college basketball player, who has led three different NBA teams. He served as an interim coach for the Miami Heat at the end of the 1995 season, and later coached the Detroit Pistons and the Los Angeles Clippers.  expects to have his starters play the reserves and then maybe split up the teams.

``Just like anything else,'' Gentry said, ``It will be good to be in a game situation.''

At this point, there isn't much more evaluation Gentry needs to do. The Clippers have to make a decision on which of their three free agents they'll keep. The team likely has a good grip on that decision, which will be between Obinna Ekezie Obinna Ralph Ekezie (born August 22 1975, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State) is a Nigerian professional basketball player, formerly in the NBA. ``We've got a good handle on our guys,'' Gentry said. ``And we got a good handle on our free agents.''

Regardless, the Clippers don't expect to make their final move until Monday's roster deadline.

``It's a little thing we do,'' Dooling said. ``Darius came up with it. I think it's a shout out for a friend back home.''

--Odom is strained: Lamar Odom missed practice Friday with an abdominal strain in his stomach. He is questionable for today's scrimmage and considered day to day.

The Clippers seemed close to overworked, considering their seven-game exhibition schedule and recent two-a-day practices. Friday night's practice was called off.

--Event at capacity: Admission to today's scrimmage is free. Tickets already have been given out through the community.

A crowd of more than 1,000 is expected at College of the Desert at the 1 p.m. event.
