Byline: Randy Hill

On Thursday, new Clippers coach Chris Ford Christopher Joseph Ford (born January 11, 1949 in Atlantic City, New Jersey, USA) is a former professional basketball player and head coach. A 6' 5" (1.96 m) guard from Villanova University, he played ten seasons (1972-1982) in the NBA as a member of the Detroit Pistons and Boston  held a reunion.

The Clippers signed free-agent point guard Sherman Douglas Sherman Douglas (born September 15 1966, in Washington, D.C., U.S.A.) is an American former professional basketball player from Syracuse University who played for the Miami Heat, Boston Celtics, Milwaukee Bucks, New Jersey Nets and the Los Angeles Clippers. from 1989 to 1992.  to a one-year contract worth $2.5 million. Douglas, who played for Ford in Boston and Milwaukee, says the reunion is logical.

It could have been Douglas about three weeks ago, but when the former Syracuse All-American and his agent requested the balance of the team's $3.7 million in salary-cap mad money, the Clippers re-signed Darrick Martin Darrick David Martin (born March 6, 1971 in Denver, Colorado, United States) is an American professional basketball player, currently with the NBA's Toronto Raptors. Martin has became known as a solid veteran who provided quality minutes as a reserve, maintaining a career free .

``I just wanted to wait and see if anything else came around,'' said Douglas, who actually was waiting for free-agent Wizard Rod Strickland Rodney "Rod" Strickland (born July 11 1966, in the Bronx, New York) is a former American professional basketball player most notably in the NBA. Early career

to either leave or stay in Washington. While he waited, his old job in New Jersey, where Douglas averaged 8 points and 4 assists in a reserve role last season, was filled. When Strickland re-signed with the Wizards on Wednesday, the Clippers - and a likely starting job - sounded a bit more palpable.

``It's nice to have him here,'' Ford said. ``I think he's going to be a good addition.''

Douglas, whose career has been built on his passing skills, is being added to a point-guard mix that includes Martin (last year's starter) and veteran Pooh Richardson Jerome "Pooh" Richardson (born May 14 1966 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania) is an American former National Basketball Association (NBA) player.

The 6'1" point guard was taken by the Minnesota Timberwolves with the tenth overall pick of the 1989 NBA Draft out of UCLA.
. Ford doesn't seem too worried about potential chemistry problems.

``You never know how that's going to go,'' he said, ``but I do know Sherman will get the ball to guys where they need it.''

Down and out: Knee injuries have landed rookie forward Brian Skinner and veteran free-agent point guard Scott Brooks on the injured list.

Skinner, the first-round pick out of Baylor, is expected to be out two-three weeks after an arthroscopic procedure on his right knee.
