PALM DESERT - Former Laker Glen Rice Glen Anthony Rice (born May 28 1967, in Flint where he played for Flint Northwestern High School, Michigan) is a retired American NBA basketball player. Rice was a three-time NBA All-Star small forward well known for his pinpoint shooting accuracy, ranking 4th in NBA history with  worked out Sunday for the Clippers and could sign with them or another team after he clears waivers today, a league source said Tuesday.

Rice is considering several other teams, including the New Jersey Nets, but the 36-year-old could be lured to the Clippers with expectations of more playing time.

The Rockets traded Rice to the Utah Jazz for John Amaechi last week, and the Jazz later bought out the final year of Rice's four-year, $36 million deal. The Jazz are planning a youth movement and saved about $1 million in salary by buying him out.

If Rice signs with another team, it will be for a bargain salary. The team could get him for the veterans' minimum, $1 million, and the NBA NBA
